Harvest Plains Church Installs Elders

Harvest Plains Church in Casselton, ND, reached a significant milestone by installing its first elders. Having local, biblically qualified elders is crucial to the sustainability and long-term health of a church.

The two-and-a-half-year-old church plant has been working hard towards becoming an autonomous local church by being self-propagating, self-funding, and self-governing. Up to this point, Harvest Plains was governed by the founding pastor, Cody Weckerly, and the two lead pastors of the parent churches, Caleb Drahosh of Buffalo City Church in Jamestown, ND, and Steve Krier of Ignite Church in the Moorehead/Fargo metro area. This plurality of leadership is essential in a church plant to provide support, encouragement, and accountability. However, the goal is to have a plurality of leadership within the local church.

The installation occurred at the May 22nd worship service. Regional President, Jim Capaldo, preached a sermon before the two men were presented. The members of Harvest Plains Church reasserted their membership covenant, and Adam and Joe pledged their service as elders. After the pledge, there was a time of prayer and laying on of hands for the new elders.

It is the goal of every church plant to be an established church. Our goal at Converge Heartland is to plant healthy churches who reach maturity so they can bring Gospel transformation to their community.
